Nuclear Opalescence

Growing up, I thought my neighbor was a Cyclops. He was probably a good guy.

Yawfle Studies Crunk

The Gorey kind, not the hip-hop kind. In other words, drastic staring.

That 1 Guy (Parish Public House)

With a homemade tube bass-electronic drum-thing dubbed the "Magic Pipe" and a song called Buttmachine it doesn't get any better than that. Jack Nemier opened with his usual energetic delivery.

Selkirk Hurdle

Some more homemade American music. This is a result of trying to practice solo swaps for bluegrass. Attempting this myself, as is abundantly clear, demonstrates the difficulty and artistry of those who can do it apparently effortlessly. Maybe someday, but until then, this is posted in case someone wants to learn it with me..

NY State of Health

Decided to set up my midi stuff while on hold with NY State of Health this week. This pile of nonsense spewed forth. Yes, it's annoying, but only a couple of samples were cut and pasted. There really were quite a lot of discreet "Please remain on the line" samples. Rather than internalize, I amuse myself and pass my annoyance on to the listener.

Fait Tain in moving pictures

In case your ears don't work without your eyes, here's Mr. Melon's first attempt at stop motion animation. Turns out it takes alot of work to get it to synchronize, or maybe tools. Who has time for that? Anyway, Socrates makes the case for bottomless pits with Guy Smiley and a guest soloist. Never too old to play with dolls...

Chuck Prophet and the Mission Express (Helsinki)

Proving rock and roll is not yet dead and demonstrating how it's done; all with a positive attitude. As usual, one of the most entertaining performances in recent history.

Local Hero in moving pictures

As no one listens without pictures anymore, the industrious nimble-fingered children at Sounding Stone cobbled together some random trail running iPhone footage to tell the story. Don't worry, it's jiggly on purpose.

Myra Melford and Ben Goldberg (The Sanctuary for Independent Media)

You would think more concerts like this would happen given our proximity to New York City. Instead, a recording session at Firehouse 12 and a flight to Argentina brings improvised music from the West Coast. More please...
