I presume the former VP has an alibi
Let's not start any conspiracy theories, I mean just because Human Rights Watch found the guy in the past couple of weeks and he was a vital source in proving the former Administration engaged in criminal acts. That would just be paranoid...

Managerial Dementia
Rock with
Keg While this reads like an Onion post, Secrecy News describes a new policy within the Congressional Research Service requiring approval from senior management before distributing information to the public. Maybe a bit dry, but it cracked Sounding Stone up... particularly the part about Captain Queeg.

The World Is Not Running Out Of Oil
Yawfle w/ Gas Can Apparently, carbon-based material is decomposing faster than we can burn it all of a sudden. Go figure. Sounding Stone read the uncritical repetition of CERA's propaganda in today's paper and needed to find out if it was true. It, of course, is not; the world is indeed running out of oil. Go ahead, read for yourself the press release and Jan Lundberg's appropriate rant in response.

Canned Sheep
Sounding Stone knew when Catskill Game Farm announced it's auction that the animals would be given to the highest bidder regardless of the buyer's intent. But the local media coverage almost convinced me the Schulz family was trying to find good homes and mostly focused on the sad demise of a family vacation playground. Apparently, they didn't recall the glass-eyed stare of bored, listless, feces-encrusted animals from their childhood. To be fair, Boom Boom the white rhino made a good story when bought and resold to rescuers. Here's a little coverage before and after sale... I'd like to meet the guy who stuffed the ten alligators into the back of his SUV.

Tasini for President, I mean Senator.
Sounding Stone endorses Jonathan Tasini for NYS Senate for two reasons: 1) Senator Clinton is a book-mongering carpetbagger with unlimited lack of principles. 2) He's against the war, wants to impeach the President, wants to reform the election process, along with not being an idiot about most other issues. Also, he has a sense of humor... I'd give him money just for that.

Confirm and Deny
cats and mouse I guess it's important that everybody knows all of a sudden... it's not an election year is it? The headline should be "Counter-Fascism database" if we're following the Administration's current Newspeak.

Ethanol Blows
Sounding Stone recently lied in telling someone the net energy balance of ethanol is negative. It's apparently an open question depending on how numbers get crunched. We here stopped caring as we think it's charity for ADM. You can decide for yourself after reading the following.

Sounding Stone references The Nation too much, but here's another well-written article arguing for impeaching President Bush. Please note the helpful links provided in case you get inspired...

Animal Fighting Prohibition Enforcement Act
Do Sounding Stone a favor, write your congressperson encouraging them to pass this act which will increase penalties for interstate traffic in animal fighting tools and fighting animals ("live bird, live dog or other mammal, except man"). Frogs, alligators, cockroaches, people, etc. are apparently fair game. Already approved by the Senate and referred to the House, this bill promises to make walks in the woods a little less surprising... and gruesome.

The Torture Question
Frontline continues to be the best show on television. This episode is required viewing for anyone who doubts the White House is not responsible for detainee treatment.

Sounding Stone found this portal for all things Halliburton entertaining. My hair loss follows the same correlation with their stock price. Is there a connection? I think so. In any case, there's a useful collection of information here.
